Heather is a busy person – just like all of our patients. She is the mother to 4 boys ranging in age from 26 to 7. (She laughs about sending out high school graduation announcements and birth announcements at the same time.) She was a teenager when she had her first son and was considered ‘elderly’ when pregnant with her last. That experience has given her tremendous empathy and understanding for moms of all ages.

Her career started as a nursing assistant right out of high school. She was drawn to the post partum floor, the closest she could get to Labor and Delivery. When she went to nursing school, she absolutely LOVED the labor and delivery experience. After she observed her first birth, she knew right then she wanted to continue her education and become a midwife. Now, after more than 15 years of experience in labor and delivery, she says the birth of a baby still excites her.

Heather is a conscientious care provider who listens and responds to patients. We recently received this note from one of her patients: “Please send my sincere thanks to Heather for taking me seriously this morning, for treating me with respect and care, and also send a thank you to whoever scheduled my last-minute appointment at St. John’s! Care like this is why I will keep coming back to your clinic.”

As our busy patients know, there isn’t much ‘spare’ time. When she is able, she loves working out at the gym and running.
