Dr.
Samuel Arnold
Obstetrics
& Gynecology
When
your father is one of St. Paul’s most highly
regarded OB-GYN physicians, following in his footsteps
seems only fitting. But Dr. Neil Arnold kept a
low profile when Sam Arnold was facing his decision
a number of years ago. “Seeing how much
Dad loved his work – especially delivering
babies – was an important influence. Yet
he never pressured me one way or the other. But
once I chose OB-GYN as my specialty, he became
my biggest cheerleader...and he has been to this
day,” says Sam with a smile.
Born
and raised in St. Paul, Sam Arnold attended the
University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia to
earn his bachelor’s degree in economics.
He then received his medical degree and completed
his OB-GYN residency at the University of Minnesota
Medical School, where he and partner Jackie Mahan,
M.D. were classmates. In 2002, Sam teamed up with
Dr. Neil Arnold and Dr. Mahan to form Comprehensive
Healthcare for Women. Dr. Sam Arnold is certified
by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Sam’s
adventurous spirit led him to move his family
to New Zealand to practice medicine for a year.
While the Arnolds loved their time on New Zealand’s
South Island, coming back to Comprehensive Healthcare
for Women in late 2005 was a welcome homecoming.
“As an OB-GYN in New Zealand, I was truly
a specialist and cared for only the most complex
cases. Here I’m able to provide the full
range of care for my patients regardless of the
medical needs they face,” he says.
Today,
Sam and his wife, Tracy, live in Eagan with their
two children – son Aidan and daughter Minnie.
For the Arnolds, it’s all about family.
Together, they enjoy downhill skiing, reading
Harry Potter books, watching movies and hiking
–“tramping” as it is called
in New Zealand. Sam still holds firmly to his
lifelong dream of being the next Minnesota Gophers’
football announcer or sportscaster. Should that
not materialize, he plans to fall back on his
musical talents as a pianist – though he
only recently started lessons. |
