Dr. Jory Burroughs
Obstetrics & Gynecology

A typical day in the life of Dr. Jory Burroughs starts with laughter and play in his Woodbury home. Waking the kids. Getting them ready for school. Every morning, Jory is reminded why he chose to enter OB-GYN. It’s all about family. And parenting, like obstetrics and gynecology, is a discipline in which one continually marvels at the miracles that come in small packages.

The “miracles” are what he enjoys the most about his profession. While he enjoys the wide variety that OB-GYN offers, he has special interests in obstetrics and adolescent gynecology. “I enjoy the opportunity to empower women with information that allows them to make healthy lifelong decisions. And, of course, I love playing a role in building new families.” He extends his commitment to adolescents by speaking to area church youth groups and schools throughout the Twin Cities. He also mentors future doctors and is active in the Christian Medical-Dental Association.

Glancing at the walls of his office provides you with only a whisper about the life of this Michigan native. You would learn that he attended medical school at the University of Minnesota with undergraduate and residency training at Michigan State University. But, his passion for competitive ballroom dancing, scuba diving, and travel appear only in the twinkle of his eyes.

His clinic schedule, by contrast, clearly reflects his practice style with appointment times designed to avoid patients feeling rushed. “I am committed to providing each of my patients with all the information, education and time they need to address their questions and concerns. When my patients leave my office, I want them to feel that their concerns were addressed with compassion and dignity.”

Watching Dr. Burroughs’ eyes sparkle when he arrives home and picks up with his children where they left off that morning underscores his practice philosophy: Treat each patient like you would treat your own family.
